HGP STEM Programs Update

Penn State University Engineers at HGP Building Roller Coasters

The Engineering Ambassadors are the student representatives of Penn State's College of Engineering. They visit high school students to inspire them to see the amazing opportunities in the engineering field and Penn State's College of Engineering.  They were at HGP on April 13th to build roller costers with math and science students.

TEAMS Qualifies for National Competition in Nashville, TN

Based on the results from the competition at Widener, we have three teams qualified to go to the national convention in Nashville. They are the sophomore team (9/10-Team A), the second junior team (11/12 Team C), and the senior team (11/12 Team A). The final combined scores to qualify for Best in Nation have not been determined yet. They should be available in late April. These scores will determine which teams will participate in the Written competition that is submitted before the national conference. Everyone will participate in the Design and Build competition and the Prepared Presentation.

HGP Math Students in Contest for Math Modeling

Two teams of students participated in the 2015 High School Mathematical Contest in Modeling sponsored by COMAP, the Consortium for Mathematics and its Applications. Both teams choose the same problem which required students to analyze over 11,000 lines of crime data to determine a safety rating for the city the data represented. The team consisting of Jared Connor, Connor Grabowski, Robert Palermo and Daniel Stauffer received an Honorable Mention for their submission. The team of Gilbert Brook, Nicholas Guiliano, Anton Peschansky and Ryan Ponticelli earned a National Outstanding recognition and were invited to participate in the International Mathematical Modeling Challenge.

Carlo Duffy Won Second at Bucks County Science Fair

Carlo Duffy entered the Bucks Co Science Fair.  He won 2nd place and moved on to the Regional Science Fair.
At the Regional level, he won 1st place in Math at the 68th Delaware Valley Science Fair University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, where he won awards for the Yale Science & Engineering Award and the University of the Sciences Scholarship along with a full-tuition scholarship to Harrisburg University of Science and Technology.

A Gift from the Class of 2016

This year, the Class of 2016 has taken ownership of giving back to Holy Ghost.They've joined together to announce that their Senior Class Campaign will raise money for a firepit to install on the rear patio of Founders' Hall.The firepit purchased will also feature a "Class of 2016" recognition plaque.

College Guidance Information

SENIORS, please continue to bring in copies of letters of acceptance and scholarship awards  to Mrs. Kudla in the College Guidance Office.   As you receive financial aid award letters, from ALL of the colleges to which you were accepted,  please save and submit to the College Guidance Office.  This information is confidential and is very important to keep our Naviance statistics up-to-date.

Fathers' Association Annual Communion Breakfast

Sunday, May 1, 2016 
9:00 A.M. Mass in the School Chapel.
Breakfast immediately after Mass in the Fieldhouse

Breakfast Admission is $30 Per Person. All Family Members Welcome

Three long-time Holy Ghost Prep employees will be recognized on Sunday, May 1, when the Fathers’ Association holds its annual Family Communion Breakfast at the Firebird Fieldhouse, which commences with Mass at the Chapel of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit at 9 a.m.

Dan Ryan, who retires this spring, will be the guest speaker at the breakfast which immediately follows the Mass.  For the past 18 years, he has served as Director of Campus Ministry and has served as a faculty instructor for many religious classes.  Ryan, has worked in a variety of positions in the field of education for 45 years, is also a previous inductee into the Fathers’ Association Hall of Fame.

In addition, Karen Iuliano of the College Guidance Department and Tony Figliola, who has directed the Forensics program for more than 30 years, will be recognized as the newest inductees into the Hall of Fame.

Graduation Reception-All Freshman/ Sophomore/Junior Moms

The Mothers’ Guild will host a reception for our Seniors and their families held after the Graduation Ceremony on Saturday, June 4.    We need your help to set up the Fieldhouse on Friday June 3, to Serve and Clean up on Saturday, June 4, and with dessert and drink donations.  Sign-ups sheets will be available at the May Mothers’ Guild meeting or please click here to sign up and help at this event.

HGP Crew Update

Holy Ghost Prep’s newest sport, rowing, competed in its first race of the spring season this past Sunday. Racing on the Schuylkill River against teams from across the region, HGP entered two eight-man boats in the Novice Eight category and came away with one commanding win and one tough sixth place finish. Re-enrollment Reminder for Returning Students

A friendly reminder to the the parents of returning students.  Enrollment Contracts for the 2016/17 Academic School Year were due to the Business Office March 31, 2016.  If you have not returned your son's with the $900 enrollment deposit please do so as soon as possible.
 
Transportation Request Forms for the 2016/17 School Year were also due to the Business Office March 31, 2016.  If your son requires transportation please mail back the form so that he is included in the bus route.  Thank you.
