Message from principal's office
New faculty hires for 2016-17 school year
Please join me in welcoming Mark Whartenby as our new Director of Campus Ministry and Service. As you know, Mark has spent the last six years as a valued member of our Religion department and has coordinated many of our service initiatives. Mark will oversee all aspects of campus ministry, retreats and service. He brings a strong sense of leadership and spiritual guidance to the position, as he prepares to foster the rich tradition of ministry and service at HGP.
In addition, Bryn Campbell will serve as our new assistant director in the College Guidance office. Bryn joins Holy Ghost with more than 12 years of college admissions counseling from both private and public colleges and universities. She has served as senior admissions counselor at Immaculata University, assistant director of admissions at University of Delaware and associate director of admissions at St. Joseph's University. Bryn will round out our College Guidance team and work with a number of sophomores, juniors and seniors on the college admissions process.
Diane Joganich will assist Mike Jacobs in our Informational Technology department. She has extensive experience in teaching and IT. She comes to us from The Haverford School where she provided technical data and Help Desk support. Prior to that, she was at the Agnes Irwin School as the associate database manager and at Gwynedd Mercy Academy School as the technology coordinator.
We have also hired three new additional faculty members to teach in the religion and math departments. Dr. Ted Nunez, a seasoned religion teacher, holds a doctorate in Religion and Culture from the Catholic University of America and has won awards for research in the area of Catholic social teaching. He has taught English, history and religion at the high school level as well as ethics and religious studies at several U.S. Catholic universities. James Hoban also joins HGP's religion department with an extensive background in teaching and administration. In his early years, he served as campus minister and retreat leader. For the past 15 years, he has been an adjunct professor at DeSales University and, most recently, at Chestnut Hill College. Most recently, he was a school administrator at Camden Catholic High School. Finally, Deirdre Best is our newest member of the math department. She holds her undergraduate and graduate degree in math and secondary education from Mercyhurst University. She joins us from Harbor Creek School in Erie, Pa.
