| | HGP sophomore and starting varsity lacrosse goalie Greg Price spent seven days with the Princeton University men's lacrosse team in Costa Rica working with local children, engaging in a project to refurbish a community center and helping bring the sport of lacrosse to a Central American country where soccer is king. The team spent time at a community center in the town of Samara, running a lacrosse clinic for the local children and then demonstrating the sport to them with an intra-squad scrimmage. The group also worked to clean up the center's building, painted soccer and goal posts and built benches and bleachers around the community field. HGP students can be found doing community service projects around the world this summer. Click Here to visit the blog and see pictures from the HGP students who spent seven days in San Juan de la Maguana in the Dominican Republic working with Fr. Don McEachin, C.S.Sp. Fr. Don serves as pastor of the parish of Nuestra Señora de la Esperanza (Our Lady of Hope). Each year, Holy Ghost Prep students travel with Campus Minister Dan Ryan and Language teacher Mike Griffin to participate in a summer sports camp for the local children in the parish. This year a group of 13 students, joined by HGP English Teacher Trish O’Connor and Facilities Manager Rich Malley, worked on completing a playground, made t-shirts and celebrated our bond as Spiritan communities with the families in the parish. |
