On Friday, August 17th, about 125 members of the Holy Ghost Prep Community gathered for the yearly Family Fun Run for Alumni, Friends, and Students of HGP. The event is hosted by Head Cross Country, Indoor Track and Field and Outdoor Track and Field Coach Mike Meistering.
In the featured 2.5K (1.6 mile) Run, Eric Arnold ’08 (Haverford College ’12) was the individual winner in a near record time of 8:04. Arnold helped lead Haverford College to its first NCAA Division III National Cross Country Championship, as well as garnering All-American Honors himself. Arnold’s classmate and teammate Patrick Haneman, both at HGP and Haverford College, placed second. Christian Kardish ’14 finished in third place, the first varsity cross country finisher. The alumni defeated the varsity 18-43.
In the 12 & Under 400m Race, Jack LaRosa was the boys’ champion in 1:15, while Bridget Wheeler was the girls’ champion in 1:20. Special awards were given to Tom Kardish ’79, the oldest alumnus in attendance (other than Coach John Mundy ’65!), and to Shawn Needham ’85, who traveled the farthest (Maryland) to attend with his family.
