Academics at HGP:  A Message from the Principal

Dear Students, Families, and Friends,

Academic life at Holy Ghost Prep articulates the pastoral message on Catholic education "To Teach as Jesus Did," a message which fulfills the dignity of the person and the building of community, a message which equates that community with service. Therefore, Holy Ghost Prep students are exposed to a rigorous liberal arts and sciences core curriculum which teaches critical thinking skills, enabling students to critique moral issues through the Gospel message, fellowship in the life of the Holy Spirit, and service to the human community.

In keeping with our mission statement, Holy Ghost Prep seeks academic excellence by challenging all students to strive to reach their maximum level of academic ability and to make use of the unique gifts given to them by God. As a college preparatory school, Holy Ghost Prep is committed to preparing students for the rigors of a competitive and demanding collegiate career. Holy Ghost Prep students will be expected to think rationally, to compute patiently and accurately, and to reason creatively. They will understand the importance of technology in today’s society and will become comfortable with the use of this technology. They will learn to appreciate the beauty of creation through a comprehensive program in the humanities. They will learn to communicate clearly and effectively while always being sensitive to the needs of their fellow men and women. They will strive for an understanding of and an appreciation for people different from themselves. They will seek to understand their particular role in God’s master plan.

Holy Ghost Prep provides a community wherein students and teachers positively challenge themselves and one another through a variety of activities both academic and extracurricular. As true education requires interaction, teachers and students thrive in the atmosphere of interaction and mutual respect cultivated at the School.
