Overview
Who We Are

The Respect for Life Club is a fun and motivating club with the intent to promote pro-life issues in today's world. We actively discuss issues related to our cause such as abortion and euthanasia.

Brief History

Several years ago Ms. Green accepted the invitation from Mr. Ryan to revitalize the Respect for Life Club. Ms. Green then enlisted Mrs. Buettler (librarian) for assistance in order to provide students with more materials on these topics. Mr. Buettler came to be available to counsel the students should they come across challenges that need professional care.

Together this team has built up this club to its current stature.

Who are the moderators?

This club is overseen by Mr. and Mrs. Buettler and is directly under the supervision of Mr. Whartenby. Also, each year a student President and a Secretary are selected by the members. These students help to establish a direct connection between moderators and the student body.

When/Where/How do we meet?

The Respect for Life club meets weekly, usually every AM Assembly Day in the Sacristry. Meetings take place during Break (3rd period), with length varying depending on the topic at hand. See the announcements for changes in meeting time and location.

Mission Statement

The Respect Life Committee at Holy Ghost Preparatory School serves to promote awareness of a consistent ethic of life, from conception to a natural death, through education, advocacy and prayer. Its members address all human life issues: the unborn, euthanasia, persons with disabilities, the elderly, the poor, HIV/AIDS, and the environment.

Activities and Events

March for Life: Each year, the Respect Life Club organizes a trip to Washington, D.C. in January to participate in the annual March for Life. This event marks the anniversary of the controversial Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision that effectively legalized abortion. HGP students join in petitioning our elected officials to defend human life at all stages.

Easter Egg Hunt: Around Easter, the Respect Life Club holds an Easter egg hunt to collect baby supplies for poor mothers and mothers-to-be, as well as to raise awareness for the pro-life cause. Prizes have included candy and Aramark lunch vouchers. Listen for announcements in the weeks approaching Easter for participation information.

Friday Break Mass: Members are asked to come to Break Mass on Fridays to pray for the protection of all life, especially that of the most vulnerable in our society.

News

On Sunday, November 22, Mr. Ryan, Mr. Murtaugh and several members of the Respect Life Club will be attending the Chester County Pro-Life Coalition's Stand Up for Life Dinner. Thank you to Mrs. Moran for providing us with the opportunity to attend!
