Biography - Gregory J. Geruson '79
Gregory J. Geruson ’79 serves as president of Holy Ghost Preparatory School. A distinguished administrator and educator, Geruson is the first lay president in the school’s history. Earlier in his career, he was HGP’s assistant headmaster for external affairs from 1991-2001 and then vice president of institutional advancement from 2001-2004.
During the 11 years following those positions, Geruson served as vice president for development and alumni relations at Saint Joseph’s University and, most recently, as vice president of the Healey Education Foundation.
Having begun his career with Andersen Consulting, Geruson has worked in the area of institutional advancement in Catholic education for over 30 years. He has run multi-million dollar capital campaigns, established enrollment management and student recruitment systems and strategies, helped build school governing boards, managed marketing initiatives, and solicited major gifts.
Geruson is on the Board of Directors at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. An educational thought leader, Geruson is also on the Board of Trustees of the Association of Delaware Valley Independent Schools (ADVIS), the Commission for Accreditation for the Pennsylvania Association of Independent Schools (PAIS), and the Board of Directors of Ancillae Assumpta Academy. He has served on several other boards and committees, has conducted workshops, presentations, and seminars and has also done consulting work for numerous schools and other non-profits.
As Holy Ghost Prep's president, Geruson was the driving force behind the largest fundraising efforts in school history, resulting in the building of a new STEM Tower in Cornwells Hall, the opening of the state-of-the-art Holt Center, the construction of the Duaime Athletic Complex, and a dramatic increase in endowment for scholarship and financial aid.
Geruson holds an M.A. in public policy and management from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a B.A. in economics from La Salle University.
