Biography - Gregory J. Geruson '79

Gregory J. Geruson '79 serves as president of Holy Ghost Preparatory School. A distinguished administrator and educator, Geruson is the first lay president in the school’s history.  Earlier in his career, he was HGP’s assistant headmaster for external affairs from 1991-2001 and then vice president of institutional advancement from 2001-2004.

During the 11 years following those positions, Geruson served as vice president for development and alumni relations at Saint Joseph’s University and, most recently, as vice president of the Healey Education Foundation. 

Having begun his career with Andersen Consulting, Geruson has worked in the area of institutional advancement in Catholic education for 30 years. He has run multi-million dollar capital campaigns, established enrollment management and student recruitment systems and strategies, helped build school governing boards, managed marketing initiatives, and solicited major gifts. 

Geruson is on the Board of Trustees at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. An educational thought leader, Geruson is also on the Board of Trustees of the Association of Delaware Valley Independent Schools (ADVIS). He has served on several other boards and committees and has conducted workshops, presentations, and seminars for the Healey Education Foundation, the Jesuit Advancement Association, National Catholic Educational Association, and the Nonprofit Center of La Salle University. He has also done consulting work for numerous schools and other non-profits.

As Holy Ghost Prep's president, Geruson was the driving force behind the school's "Vision 2020" Strategic Plan. "Vision 2020," the largest fundraising effort in school history, resulted in the building of a new STEM Tower in Cornwells Hall and the opening of the state-of-the-art Holt Center, which includes a performing arts center, a multi-purpose gymnasium, music instruction rooms, and special training areas for baseball, track and field, golf, lacrosse, and rowing.

Geruson holds an M.A. in public policy and management from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a B.A. in economics from La Salle University.
