Course Selection 2026-27
Course selection for the 2026-27 school year runs from Tuesday, February 17 to Friday, March 27.
Each class has a dedicated time frame for course selection and registration, which are listed below. During each class's time frame, each student will meet individually with his assigned college counselor to pick his classes for the 2026-27 school year. Each student will be scheduled for his individual meeting by his counselor and made aware of the time directly through email and Schoology. Parents are encouraged to participate in the student's course selection meeting via Google Meet. Please contact your son's college counselor directly to set this up.
Before his individual meeting, the student should review the 2026-27 Course Guide, complete the Course Selection Survey and submit an AP Course Request Form if he is interested in taking one of the AP classes listed below. The Course Guide, Course Selection Surveys, and the AP Course Request Form are available below.
- Most next-year course requests are based on teacher recommendation. Teachers will communicate directly to students their suggested placement for the 2026-27 school year before each class's registration time frame begins. The student will then complete the Course Selection Survey based on those recommendations prior to his individual counselor meeting.
- Some AP classes are request-only and require prerequisites and departmental approval. If a student wants to request any of the following AP classes, he MUST fill out the AP Course Request Form, which is available below. Students cannot request an AP course below without submitting the request form. The request will be reviewed by the department chairperson, teachers, and Dean of Academics.
- AP Bio (Class of 27 and 28)
- AP Chem (Class of 27 and 28)
- AP Physics 1 (Class of 27)
- AP Physics C (Class of 27)
- AP CS Principles (Class of 27, 28, and 29)
- AP CSA (Class of 27 and 28)
- AP Psych (Class of 27 and 28)
- AP Macro (Class of 28)
- AP Econ (Macro + Micro) (Class of 27)
- AP African American Studies (Class of 27)
- AP Stats (Class of 27, 28, and 29)
- AP Seminar (Class of 28)
- Enrollment in all other AP courses is based on teacher recommendation.
During his individual meeting, the student and his counselor will review the completed Course Selection Survey and any AP course requests and build his list of course requests for the 2026-27 school year. At the conclusion of the meeting, the student will receive a Course Selection Worksheet (which consists of all his course requests for 2026-27) to be signed by both him and a parent/guardian and returned to the Academics Office for final approval.
Ghost Summer
To help with your academic planning for the 2026-27 academic year, there are four core classes that are offered during Ghost Summer:
- Theology of the Body
- Morality
- World Religion
- Geometry Honors/Trig
Taking one of these core courses during Ghost Summer fulfills the respective requirement during the 2026-27 academic year. Because taking one of these core courses will free up a class period in your schedule during the academic year, you can replace it with another elective or an Open Study. The full Ghost Summer schedule and offerings, as well as a registration link, can be found HERE. Ghost Summer registration is currently open.
We will do our best to grant every student's course requests, but some may not be possible due to class size, teachers' schedules and class assignments, or other constraints. Schedules for the 2026-27 school year will be available to view on PowerSchool in early August.
As the course registration process unfolds, please do not hesitate to contact either Mrs. Reteneller (Director of College Guidance) or Mr. Hoelzle (Dean of Academics) with any questions or concerns.
