College Guidance

Our Philosophy: At Holy Ghost Preparatory School, we believe the college search process should be holistic in our approach to finding the "best fit" college for a student.

We strive to help our young men learn more about themselves to help make informed search decisions so that they will be fulfilled by their college experience academically, spiritually, and socially.  One of Holy Ghost Prep’s undeniable strengths is our success in finding the right fit college for each student.

One hundred percent of our students go onto college - many of them to the finest colleges and universities in the country.

It happens by design. Each Holy Ghost Prep student is assigned a college counselor in the second half of his freshman year. Our three counselors—AnnMarie Dougherty, Grace Opdyke, and Joe Dembik—and our department coordinator Terry Kudla possess a combined 44 years of college guidance experience, so they know how to find right-fit schools for students.

Because we intentionally start the counselor-student relationship a year-and-a-half before most area high schools, our counselors have more time to discover a student’s academic strengths, weaknesses, interests, hopes and dreams. It also results in better counselor recommendation letter because our college counselors learn more about a student than what he looks like numerically on a paper. Early meetings between college counselor and students establish a level of comfort that makes discussing the hard decisions, acceptances, and rejections easier.
