Lots of chances to #ThinkGhost this fall
We believe this commitment includes the implementation of programs that involve parents, teachers, support staff, administrators, local law enforcement, mental health and wellness professionals, and elected officials to take meaningful action to protect our students, staff, and community.
As a part of that effort, Holy Ghost Prep is joining schools across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in rolling out the Safe2Say Something (S2SS) Program and posting our hazing policy on our website.
To learn more about the Safe2Say Something (S2SS) program, an anonymous reporting system designed to help students and staff to recognize the warning signs and signals (especially on social media) of individuals who may be a threat to themselves or others, click here.
Hazing is any action or situation which recklessly or intentionally endangers the mental or physical health or safety of a person or which willfully destroys or removes public or private property for the purpose of initiation or admission into or affiliation with, or as a condition for continued membership in, any group
Any situation or activity that, for the purposes becoming, remaining, or participating in any group, produces or could be expected to produce mental, emotional, social, or physical discomfort, fright, degradation, moral compromise, humiliation, embarrassment, harassment, or ridicule to the student is hazing.
A person violates this policy whenever he engages, assists, or attempts to engage or assist in the planning or committing of any hazing activity, whether on or off campus or other School property.
Hazing activities include, but are not limited to the following:
Such conduct includes forced consumption of food, liquor, beverage, drug, or other substance; brutal treatment or forced physical activity that is likely to adversely affect the physical health or safety of any student or other person, or that subjects such student or other person to extreme mental stress, including deprivation of sleep or rest or extended isolation.
All members of Holy Ghost Prep community, including, students, faculty, and staff, are responsible for immediately reporting any hazing activity or plans for any hazing activity to the appropriate faculty member, coach, moderator, athletic director, principal or president. The failure to make such a report is also a violation of this policy.
All members of the Holy Ghost Prep community are responsible for ensuring Holy Ghost Prep remains free of hazing
Any athletic team/sport, club, association, organization, or other group who authorizes hazing or violates this policy may be sanctioned by the School.
A student's violation of this policy could result in the student’s suspension or dismissal from the team or organization, as well as disciplinary action from the school administration up to and including suspension or dismissal from school.
