Coach: Tony Chapman
2018-19 record: 20-10 overall, won 2019 Bicentennial League’s Independence Division title
Key players lost to graduation: Jack Rittenmeyer, Greg Sylvester, Greg Calvin, and Sean Sylvester
Key returnees: Tyler Mish ’20, Sean Elliott ’20, Steve Cianci ’20
2019-20 season outlook: Veteran coach Tony Chapman must replace four starters (Jack Rittenmeyer, Greg Sylvester, Greg Calvin, and Sean Sylvester) from last year’s 20-win team that won its first BAL crown since 2012 and earn a coveted spot in the 2019 PIAA Class 5A state playoffs. With all of that experience gone, Chapman will build his 2019-20 squad around the talents of returning starter Tyler Mish, a senior shooting guard who was second on the team in scoring last year and earned 2019 honorable mention All-BAL honors, and last year’s sixth man Sean Elliott. Six-foot-five senior Steve Cianci will start at the center spot, while senior John Armentani, junior Ryan O’Hara, and sophomores Sean McGrenehan and Dylan Snead will also see plenty of frontcourt minutes. Three upperclassmen—seniors T.J. Butler and John Burke, along with junior Jack McDermott—are in an open competition for the vacant point guard spot. Juniors Chris Kada, Tyler Schmidt, Liam Huy, and Ryan Coolahan should earn playing time too for what looks like a deep and pretty offensively skilled HGP team.
