More Success for Indoor Track & Field over Christmas Break
1/6/19 - Over the Christmas Holidays, the Indoor Track & Field Team continued to challenge at or near state level performances. Led by Jarett Zelinsky '19, the 4x400 meter relay team defeated teams from six states in winning the Ocean Breeze Holiday Festival relay event held on Staten Island on December 30. The team composed of John Gasiewski '19, Tony Carbino '19, Antonio Camacho '21, and Zelinsky ran close to state qualifying in winning the event, garnering 1st place medals and commemorative hats. Earlier in the same meet, the 4x800 meter relay team composed of Tony Carbino '19, Mitchell Feyl '20, John Horgan '21, and Zelinsky medalled in sixth place. On the day before, Zelinsky was accepted and competed in an invitational individual 800 meter race at the Marine Corps Holiday Classic at the New Balance Track & Field Center at the Armory in New York City. He medalled in 7th place, the third runner in the race from Pennsylvania, running a personal best and top 5 time for Pennsylvania. On that same Saturday, a separate group of team members also garnered medals at Lehigh in a Track & Field Coaches' Association Meet: Matthew Ginnetti '20 placed 1st in the pole vault, Jacob McDonald '19 medalled in the 60m High Hurdles, and Elliot Puckett '21 medalled in the 3000 meter run.
Currently, Zelinsky is 5th in the state in the 800 meters, and with his help, the 4x800m relay is 10th and the 4x400m relay is in the top 20. Best of luck to all team members as they continue to work hard and improve.
