15 students participate in the Memory Project

Fifteen HGP artists participated in the Memory Project during the 2016-2017 school year. This is a national program where high school artists create portraits of orphans from developing countries. The purpose of the program is to provide the children with a special memory of their youth and to honor their heritage and identity. The artists in turn practice kindness,empathy and service to others.

This year, HGP artists created portraits of children from Tanzania. Karen Smallen and her students were especially happy to get the photos of Tanzanian children because of the Holy Ghost Fathers’ presence in that African nation. The drawings took several hours to complete.

This year’s Memory Project artists were Hugh Collins, Graham Gibbs, Pioty Cymbalski, Jake Lawall, Dante DeSanctis, Jack Zhou, Cooper Pandorf, Patrick Oniate, Tom Forkin, Chris Aileo, Own Yake, Bryan Kelleher, Bruce Jiang, Eric Lorenzo and Dean Guiliano.

This was HGP’s seventh year participating in The Memory Project. Each year, Holy Ghost Prep students have the opportunity to make portraits of children from different countries.

“We are proud of the work these HGP artists do and plan to continue participating in this project,” says Smallen.
