Sunday, November 12 - 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM
The HGP Mothers' Guild runs the most successful craft show in the area. Planning is well under way for the Craft Show, which is our largest fundraiser, but we do need some help from our HGP families to make it a success. Below are the links to sign up for Volunteering and Donations.
We need lots of help the weekend of the Craft Show. Please consider volunteering a little of your time and have fun with your fellow HGP moms.
Please consider donating an item from the list for our café. Drink donations can be dropped off at the field house between 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. on Thursday, November 9th or 8 a.m.-4 p.m. on Friday, November 10th. Monetary or gift card donations can be brought to Mothers' Guild meetings or sent into school anytime - Attn: Craft Show/Cafe. Please contact Keya Watkins at (267) 228-2433 or email@example.com with any questions.
Each year, the Basket Committee puts together several large themed baskets that are raffled off, generating nearly $13,000 in funds to directly help our boys. Please consider donating an item from the list or cash/gift card to cover an item. Please send the item with your son to drop off at the main office (no alcohol sent in). For alternate arrangements, please contact Becky Gabriele at (215) 499-7750 or firstname.lastname@example.org http://www.signupgenius.com/go/70a0e4fa9ae2e5-2017

The Bake Table is one of the most popular areas of the HGP Craft Show, proving that baking never goes out of style! HGP moms, grandmoms, aunts, etc. have the reputation of being the best bakers in the county! The Bake Table sells out every year. In keeping with tradition, we kindly ask that all families donate at least 3 home baked goods for the Bake Table. Please click here for details and helpful hints on baking, wrapping, and dropping off your delicious treats.
All your time and donations are greatly appreciated! Thank you!

2017-2018 Semester 1 Exam Information Schedule
For the 2017-2018 school year, Holy Ghost Preparatory School will administer Semester 1 exams the week before Christmas break, December 18 to December 22. This decision came after input from parents, students, faculty, and administration, and final approval by the Academic Committee.
The main advantages to this schedule are that students have a consistent workflow, follow a collegiate model, and have both a true Christmas break without the pressure of upcoming exams, and a fresh beginning with the start of Semester 2 after the Christmas holiday.
Students will have a maximum of two traditional exams per day, but the schedule also offers a number of opportunities for alternate assessments. The daily schedule will begin at 8:00am and end at 2:30 p.m. with assessments occurring in the morning and two classes in the afternoon. The new schedule eliminates any exam conflicts and give students the opportunity to meet with teachers or prepare for final assessments. All classes will meet as scheduled regardless of the type of assessment administered with the exception of co-curricular classes that meet once per cycle.
Last call: Class Notes needed for next issue of Holy Ghost Prep Magazine

Hurricane Relief Opportunities
Our thoughts and prayers are with the many victims impacted by the recent hurricanes. As a school community, we have made a concerted effort to reach out to Spiritan organizations in Puerto Rico and Houston who are working closely with those who have been affected by these storms. More importantly, we are working with our students in different classes to get our relief efforts off the ground. This has taken communication, organization, and action with those directly involved in the hurricanes. Two Spiritan organizations who have begun to communicate serious needs are Magnicat Houses in Houston (http://magnificathousesinc.org/Home.html) and Espiritanos in Puerto Rico (http://www.espiritanos.com/espiritanos/HOME.html).
Both mesh perfectly with who we are at Holy Ghost Prep and provide a greater sense of service and learning for our students. The Magnicat Houses’ needs are both big (houses need to be re-roofed) and small. Our students are going to put together hygiene kits to address a few of the simple needs, and we are going to fundraise to help to put a new roof on a Houston house. We are still working with Espiritanos in Puerto Rico to best ascertain how we can help them. Mark Whartenby and our student leaders (i.e peer ministry group) will continue to communicate the needs of those in Houston and Puerto Rico as our plans take shape. We are eager to help and hope you will join us in our student-led efforts moving forward.

The Fathers’ Association Christmas Blessings Program
Once again, the Fathers’ Association of Holy Ghost Preparatory School will be sponsoring the annual Christmas Blessings Program. This program reaches out to aid nearby parish families that are truly in need of assistance. For several years now, the overwhelming generosity of the HGP community has enriched the lives of hundreds of families during the Christmas season.
Imagine for a moment that you were unable to provide a simple gift for your children or a simple holiday meal to share with your family. How might you feel? For some local families, this is a reality. Last year, we embarked on a new mission with Christmas Blessings. A mission to restore parental dignity by affording parents the opportunity to shop for their family through the use of donated gift cards.
This year, we are continuing that mission. We are petitioning members of the HGP Community to graciously consider adopting a family in need and provide them with the opportunity to shop for their family with donated gift cards. We ask that gift cards be from designated local retail stores and that a gift card to a designated local food store also be provided such that the family may purchase the necessary ingredients for a holiday meal. Donating pharmacy or even gas cards would also be very helpful. In some cases families provided some wish items. Please consider them in your generosity.
Information regarding family selection and registration can be found here
For larger families of 5 or more, we encourage two HGP donor families share in the effort together.
Our collection for all Christmas Blessing donations will be Sunday, December 10, 2017. Please join us in the Chapel for Mass starting at 9:00am. Gift cards and presents will then be collected from 10:00 am until noon in the dining hall. All donations must be delivered to HGP by noon so that we may then deliver the packages to the various parishes that afternoon. We thank you for your understanding.
If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact Ron Marcinkowski via email at email@example.com or phone at 215-416-6826.
Thank you in advance for your compassion and generosity! It will make a difference in the lives of those in need.
