Matt Dwyer, a proven fundraiser with nearly 20 years of experience in cultivating major gifts, will become Holy Ghost Prep’s executive director of development on September 12.

In this role, Dwyer will oversee all of Holy Ghost’s fundraising and alumni efforts. He will focus his energies on Holy Ghost’s current major gifts initiatives of raising funds for the new Arts and Athletic Activity Center, the new STEM initiative, and Holy Ghost’s ongoing efforts to endow its forensics program and to increase the number of scholarships available for prospective students.

He will also be a member of the Holy Ghost Prep Executive Team.

Dwyer comes to Holy Ghost after serving in development leadership roles for the Catholic Diocese of Arlington, Virginia and Catholic Archdiocese of Charleston, South Carolina.  Prior to that, he was a vice president for Guidance in Giving, Inc., a professional fundraising consultant group that led and managed all aspects of multi-million capital campaigns and feasibility studies for Catholic schools, parishes and dioceses all over the country.

“Few people have the combination of frontline fundraising experience and strategic leadership skills that Matt possesses. Matt has had a remarkable career, and we are fortunate that he has fallen in love with Holy Ghost,” says Gregory J. Geruson ’79, President of Holy Ghost Prep. “I look forward to partnering with him to make our aspirations a reality.”

His decision to come to Holy Ghost will represent a homecoming of sorts for Dwyer. He grew up in South Jersey and is a 1993 Saint Joseph’s Prep graduate who earned a business management degree from the University of Scranton in 1997.

Dwyer is excited to have joined the Holy Ghost family. “It was immediately evident to me that Holy Ghost Prep is a true community of learners, dedicated to its values and passionate about its mission,” says Dwyer. “I am thrilled to be a part of this special place.”
