Make plans to attend HGP's Spring Auction on Saturday, May 6, 2017

The Holy Ghost Prep Spring Auction will take place on Saturday, May 6. Last year, 332 people attended this can’t-miss event, so please make plans to join us. Some of the highlights of the Spring Auction include mobile bidding;  a tuition raffle (full tuition for 2017-18 school year or $10,000 in cash; $100 per ticket or $200 for 3 tickets); catering by Carlucci’s; cool HGP items; and a wide array of great silent auction items.

In addition, there is a live auction with must-have items such as:

  • Authentic Italian dinner prepared by Chef Greg Geruson ’79 (pictured below, photo by Catalano Studio):  Due to popular demand last year, two dinners were auctioned off. Don’t miss the opportunity to have HGP’s world-class chef prepare an Italian dinner for eight people in your home.
  • Unforgettable vacation to St.Maarten: One-week stay at the Oyster Bay Beach Resort.
  • Golf at the Union League: Foursome and complimentary lunch at MacAlester's Dining Room.

Thank you message from Tony Chapman '71

Holy Ghost Prep head coach Tony Chapman '71 was honored at the inaugural Coaches vs. Cancer High School Legends Dinner April 5 at the Great American Pub in Conshohocken. He wanted to thank everyone involved in the letter below:

To the Holy Ghost Prep Community:

Two weeks ago, I was honored, along with four other local high school basketball coaches, at what was called the Legends Dinner that took place in Conshohocken, Pa.  Benefits from the event went to the Coaches vs. Cancer Society in Philadelphia.

In part of my presentation, I gave thanks to those who have helped me  in various capacities over the years and used the phrase - “you know who you are.”  I would now like to publicly thank the individuals who helped put THAT evening together.

Special thanks go to Mr. Bill Doherty and Mr. Matt Dwyer and their staffs for their tremendous efforts;  to Mr. Greg Geruson, Mr. Jeff Danilak, Mr. Jim Stewart, and Mr. Ryan Abramson for their continued guidance and support; to Mr. Joe Quinlan for all he has done not only for Holy Ghost Prep but for me personally;  a special thank you to my wife Jane for my wonderful introduction and to my entire family for attending;  and finally to all of my assistant coaches,  faculty, alumni and friends from Holy Ghost who attended that night.  I spoke to many but not to all. I want you ALL to know that I appreciate incredibly your willingness to sacrifice a long evening in order to be part of what I felt was a fantastic night for all five coaches.

Thank you again,

Tony Chapman

Summer Class: Indie Film and Theater

Spots are filling up fast! Interested students and parents, email Mr. Jordan at mjordan@holyghostprep.org.

Overview: This course is designed to enhance students’ understanding and appreciation of classic and contemporary film and theater. We will take both a critical and experiential approach to these films and plays. In other words, we will study and research them critically, and then see them performed. We will follow various works from page to stage, studying them first in the classroom and then watching them come alive on stage and screen.

Class Schedule: Tuesdays through Thursdays for 5-6 weeks in the first half of the summer. The class should be completed by the third week of July at the latest. In scheduling those 5-6 weeks, we will do our best to accommodate everyone’s summer plans. Last year, we scheduled around the service trip to the Dominican Republic. We can do the same for the week of July 4 if necessary.

Classes meet from 9:00-noon on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Wednesdays are field trip days. On those days, we will meet between 10:00-11:00 and return to school between 4:00-6:00, depending on the activity. Trips will only be planned on class dates. One Wednesday trip will be an overnight trip to New York. We will leave Wednesday morning from Holy Ghost and return to school by noon of the following day.
