March 13, 2020
Dear Holy Ghost Prep families,
We are aware that the COVID-19 situation and the shift to HGP's cyber learning model will present challenges for our students, but we also know that we are all in this together. It is an opportunity to work together by supporting one another, by thinking creatively about the challenges we face, and by staying connected even when we are physically separated. This is, at its most basic, what it means to be a community of one heart and one mind.
We will keep you, as parents, connected by communicating on a regular basis. This email will address some of the big picture questions that you might have.
The cyber learning plan
Access to the building We realize that some of your sons still need to get books and materials from school to be ready for the start of cyber learning. Cornwells Hall will be open on Saturday, March 14 from 9 a.m. to noon and Monday, March 16 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. If your son is coming into Cornwells, please tell him to use the main courtyard door. Please have him stop by the Main Office and sign in with Mrs. Rittenmeyer.
Sports events and activities All Holy Ghost Prep events, sports, meetings, and activities are cancelled through March 28. We will provide further updates during the next two weeks.
· The Junior/Senior Prom, originally scheduled for April 3, will be postponed. We realize the importance of this event to our students, and it is our hope and intention that we can reschedule it. More details will be forthcoming.
HGP Spring Auction The annual HGP Spring Auction, scheduled for March 21, will be postponed and will shift to an exclusively online format. The timing of the auction, as well as other details about online bidding will be communicated next week.
It is at times like these that building a community in "One Heart and One Mind" is of the utmost importance. While the coronavirus is causing us to adjust and adapt, and is creating frustration and fear for many of us, we know that the sacrifices we are making are critically important. We should be reminded that our ultimate goal is your son's safety and in doing so we help reduce the spread of COVID-19. I would like to thank you, the HGP families, for your patience and support as we navigate this situation together.
In One Heart and One Mind,
Gregory J. Geruson '79 President
