March 20, 2020
Dear Holy Ghost Prep families,
Since we made the initial decision to move to the cyber learning model, several new developments—most notably, Gov. Wolf's "stay-at-home" order—have led us to decide to continue to conduct classes remotely until April 17. We make this decision in the best interest of the health and safety of our students and families, faculty and staff, and the greater surrounding community.
While this is an unprecedented situation for our country, this is also a time during which the HGP community has collectively achieved and adapted. We are proud of how our students, and faculty and staff have been working together to keep teaching, learning, and fulfilling our educational mission. We are also thankful to you, our parents, for not only the support and passion for HGP but also the helpful feedback and suggestions.
We sent out a survey to students on March 20, and we have heard your ideas and will continue to adapt. The feedback that we received from that survey, coupled with input from two faculty Zoom meetings this week, and your input, have us working tirelessly to refine and enhance our cyber learning platform. We anticipate sharing those improvements in our Friday email to you.
Some important reminders and updates are shared below.
Reminder - HGP's campus and facilities are closed With safety in mind, the Holy Ghost Prep campus and facilities are closed in accordance with the "stay-at-home" order that Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf issued earlier this week for Philadelphia, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery counties.
Sports events and activities All Holy Ghost Prep events, sports, meetings, and activities are cancelled through April 17. We will provide updates over the next two weeks.
As a Spiritan community, we continue to adapt in order to meet your sons where they are. These extraordinary times require extraordinary measures, and our faculty has worked so hard to deliver an online version of the first-rate education Holy Ghost Prep is known for.
At the highest levels of the school, we are actively monitoring COVID-19 and taking measures to support the health and well-being of our entire community. Please stay safe, and we will be in touch on Friday with our revised cyber learning plan moving forward.
In One Heart and One Mind,
Gregory J. Geruson '79 President
