Holy Ghost Prep has always been about more than just bricks and mortar and never has that been more evident than during the current COVID-19 crisis. The buildings on campus may be empty and the Ghost Online learning is being done remotely, but Holy Ghost Prep is about our people and the Spiritan values that an HGP education instills in each student who attends the school. We rely on those values always, but particularly in trying times.
Everyone knows how challenging a time this is. Our priority is Holy Ghost Prep—not simply the institution, but the people who make it up—students, families, faculty and staff, and alumni.
During these unprecedented times, we realize that HGP families are faced with many unknowns. But one thing is certain: We are committed to supporting our current students and the incoming Class of 2024. We want to do all that we can to continue to provide an education to all of our students; and we hope to keep this commitment with your support.
To address any shifting financial needs of some HGP families as we face this economic turmoil, we are announcing the establishment of a Firebirds for Firebirds Fund, an emergency fund which will target those who have experienced COVID-19 related layoffs, health issues, etc. Details on how members of our community can donate to this fund and how affected families can apply for these funds will be forthcoming shortly. In an effort to help as many families we can, we are fully committed to focusing our fundraising efforts on this Firebirds for Firebirds initiative.
In addition, the deadline for the first tuition payments has been delayed until August 1 in light of the COVID-19 crisis. Tuition bills will go out on May 15 which will include this adjusted deadline. We are asking for support from those families who can adhere to their normal tuition payment schedule, please do so. And those families who select the one-pay option for paying their tuition will be given a 2.5% discount if they make their payment by July 1. More details will be forthcoming, along with your bill on May 15.
We have a few additional announcements:
We will talk to you tomorrow evening at the HGP Town Hall meeting, and our next communication will come this Friday, April 24. Thank you for your patience, your persistence, and your prayers as we get through these weeks ahead, as a Holy Ghost Prep family, and emerge even stronger.
