May 20,2020
Dear Holy Ghost Prep families,
With spring semester about to end, we will announce our summer plans Friday, May 29 and are devoting our full attention to fall planning.
As we await guidance from local and state health and education officials, we are working to plan for various scenarios. These scenarios, as discussed in last week's Town Hall (click here to access), include a full return to campus, a return to campus with modifications (i.e. a hybrid scenario with both on campus and some distance learning), and lastly, just remote learning.
You can be certain that we will keep you informed as we work through the fall planning process.
As always, we have a few announcements:
- COVID-19 Relief Grants: Holy Ghost Prep has launched its COVID-19 Relief Grant program to help current and incoming families financially affected by the coronavirus crisis. To learn more about the program or to apply for a grant, click here.
- Summer Course Offerings: Information on the Ghost Summer course offerings and enrichment opportunities will be available the 29th.
- Locker Clean-Out Days: We will hold locker clean-out days from 10 a.m. to noon for: Class of 2021 on May 26; Class of 2022 on May 27, and Class of 2023 on May 28. All of the locker clean-outs days will be held in accordance with all social distancing procedures and approved safety protocols (e.g. masks required). Assigned time slots and all info will be posted on the respective Schoology Class pages by the end of this week. Parents with students in multiple class years (i.e. a son in the Class of 2021 and 2023) can bring both sons on the same day in order to save a trip.
- Class Food Drives: As part of the locker clean-out days, we encourage our students to bring non-perishable food items and paper products to donate to our neighbors at the Harvest Ministries Food Bank at Cornwells Methodist Church. Harvest Ministries is a non-profit, charitable organization that distributes food to Bensalem residents in need. Mr. Whartenby will share additional details on Schoology.
- Freshman Orientation Night: Our Class of 2024 Freshman Orientation Night will be held virtually on May 28 at 6 p.m. The orientation will be available on YouTube and Facebook. It will also be available on-demand after the event.
- College Guidance Update: Holy Ghost Prep will hold virtual college information sessions from June 9 through July 30. Rising seniors and juniors can sign up for these on Naviance. During our most recent Town Hall, a parent asked for the tentative 2020 SAT dates. They can be accessed by clicking here.
- Graduation Parade: Due to health and safety guidelines, only seniors and their family, faculty, staff and coaches will be permitted on campus for the senior parade on May 30. Holy Ghost will be live streaming the parade on our Facebook and YouTube sites for family members and friends unable to be on campus.
Our next communication will come this Friday, May 22.
