Ryan Callahan ’18 wins BAL bowling title

Holy Ghost Prep senior Ryan Callahan captured the 2018 Bicentennial Athletic League (BAL) singles title on Feb. 14 at Delmor Lanes in Morrisville.

Callahan won four straight matches to win the 2018 title. After rolling the tournament’s high game of 256 in the semifinals, Callahan, who will attend Emory University in the fall, beat Bristol's Xavier Corbin in the final, 203-182. This marks the second straight season that Holy Ghost Prep has won the BAL single crown. Last year’s final was all-HGP affair as John Schrenk bested Callahan, 226-170 in the final.

"Ryan Callahan deserves this. After being the runner-up last year, he was due,” says Holy Ghost’s clearly proud bowling coach Tom Eckerle.

Both Callahan and Schrenk, Holy Ghost Prep’s bowling co-captains, are headed to Reading in March for the Eastern regionals, bowling’s version of the district playoffs, as singles competitors.
