Holy Ghost Prep 2023 cross-country season in review

The Holy Ghost Prep cross-country team captured a fourth straight PIAA District One Class 2A cross-country team title on October 27 at Lehigh University.

The Firebirds had four top-10 finishers in the District One race and all four were district medalists: senior Papakojo Danquah (fourth place), junior Daniel Perez (fifth place), senior Maurece Jean-Brian (ninth place), senior Brendan DiEnna (10th place). Freshman Jack Loveman took 17th place, while sophomore Patrick McGowan and freshman Owen Bittman finished 24th and 29th, respectively.

“It is incredible to win a fourth straight District One championship and it’s a testament to the hard work and determination of Holy Ghost Prep’s scholarly young cross country gentlemen,” said Holy Ghost Prep cross-country coach Mike Meistering. “We would not have been able to do it without the leadership of our seniors and the scoring help from our freshmen and sophomores.”

On November 5, 2022, HGP cross-country team finished its 2023 season with a 10th place team finish at the PIAA District One Class 2Ab state championship meet in Hershey, Pa.
