Holy Ghost Prep’s Alumni Association is once again offering fellow graduates an opportunity to participate in a service event in support of Philabundance on Saturday, August 2, from 8:30 a.m. till noon.
Coordinated by Alumni Board member Ken Lorence `05, alumni will gather at The Hunger Relief Center, located at 3616 South Galloway Street in Philadelphia, located off of Pattison Avenue near the South Philadelphia stadium complex. Parking is available at the Hunger Relief Center.
One of the largest non-profit food banks in the region, Philabundance (www.philabundance.org) provides low-income senior citizens with packages of USDA donated food from several locations. Volunteers are sought, particularly from area organizations, to assist with sorting and preparing such packages for delivery.
Lorence advises participants to wear closed-toe shoes and either jeans or pants, since they will be working along a conveyor belt in a warehouse environment. Alumni are encouraged to bring other volunteers, as long as they are ages 14 and older. Also, he asserts, wear your HGP gear and apparel proudly!
