The team is now 6-1 (6-0 BAL).  We went 3-0 the week of 4/8 outscoring opponents 42-1.  HGP is hitting .376 with 29 extra base hits in 7 games. Will Binder is hitting .571 and John McNamee .500 to lead the team.  Phil Stahl and Will Binder lead the team with 10 RBI's each and Andrew Curry leads the team with 11 runs scored.  The pitchers have a team ERA of 1.75 with 72K in 36IP.  Ryan Staropoli, Drew Smiley and Jared Minnichbach have 2 wins each.
ave the date: Alumni Day on 4/28 - 12pm game vs. Archbishop Ryan!
The lacrosse team hit a speed bump last week after a big win over Germantown Academy. Zach May was brilliant in the cage with 11 Saves. The team bounced back after those two tight losses with and 8-2 win over Wissahickon and a 15-3 win over Devon Prep. The attack of George Rusnak, Zach Nangle and Dan Kovacevich have accounted the majority of the goals. The team is averaging over 10 goals a game while defense is limiting opponents to 5 goals a game. Matt Rueter continues to rewrite the school record book for Faceoffs and groundballs. His latest game vs Devon Prep, he dominated going 15/16 with 12 GBs. The team stands at 6-2 in District 1 and is on track for a playoff bid.

Rowing put in another cold, windy race with drizzle all morning at the 4th Manny Flick. The team continued its winning ways despite the rough weather.
The boys Novice Four came away with another win its heat and posted the fastest time overall in their category. They are Bevenour '21, Piscopo '20, Costigan '21, Featherstone '21, and Adams '21. The boys Lightweight won their top-seeded heat a solid six seconds ahead of second place Lower Merion High School, and also posted the fastest time of the day for light fours yet again - two weeks in a row at top of the class in Philadelphia. They are Danna '18, Geib '18, Bell '20, Dattilo '18, and Hicks '20.
The boys JV Eight, racing in the varsity category, improved on their race plan from last weekend but failed to catch any V8's in their flight. They'll look to rebound in the JV category next weekend; they are 'Adams '19, Chapin '19, Gibbons '19, LaRosa '20, Bautz '20, Swider '19, Zwiercan '20, Wert '20, and Rubis '21. Finally, the varsity four placed 4th in their top-seed heat, behind Don Bosco Prep, the Hill School and the Haverford School, but ahead of Christian Brothers Academy and Archbishop Carroll and faster than 25 other boats in their event. They are Donohue '18, Braun '21, Cancelliere '19, Boyle '20, and Bautz '18.
The team is at home, for the first time ever, at Core Creek Park in Langhorne next Saturday morning, against Harriton High School from Villanova, PA. They'll then finish the "regular" season in Philadelphia the next Sunday at the fifth and final Manny Flick race.

The tennis team recently captured a 4th straight BAL Championship with a dominating win over Church Farm. The Firebirds have not lost a regular-season BAL match during this 4-year run. The team is currently 9-1 (BAL 7-0) with many big non-league matches left on the regular-season schedule. This weekend, Junior Keegan Pietrak and Senior Mark Pabalan will compete in the BAL Singles Tournament at Lower Moreland. With good showings, both players hope to earn District One AAA singles berths.

Track and Field
The Outdoor Track & Field Team began their Bicentennial Athletic League with two wins in a regular season triangular meet before the Easter vacation. The team was led by first place finishers Jarrett Zelinsky '19 in the 300 meter intermediate hurdles and 400 meter dash, Tony Carbino '19 in the 1600 meter and 800 meter runs, Adam Lawall '19 in the shot put, Jarrod Padilla '18 in the 200 meter dash, Killian Brennan '20 in the 3200 meter run, Kevin Trusdell '18 in the Triple Jump, and Jacob McDonald '19 in the pole vault. The 4x100 meter relay composed of Padilla, Zamir Guy '18, Trusdell, and Sean O'Hara '18, as well as the 4x400 meter relay composed of Carbino, John Horgan '21, Paul Watkins '20, and Andrew Plunkett '19, also finished in first place. The team scored 115 points to Calvary Christian's 50 and Faith Christian's 10 points. The team looks forward to working hard toward hopeful success in the championships in early May.
The ultimate team enters its third year as a varsity program with high expectations. The Firebirds are looking to continue to build off its success from the previous years by establishing itself as one of the top teams in the Philadelphia area. The team, which is made up of 35 players, is hoping to qualify for States once again. This year the competition will be held outside of Pittsburgh over Memorial Day weekend. The team knows there is a lot of work to do, but the future looks bright.
