COVID-19 Policies and Recommendations

Please remember that with COVID, we must always be prepared to make adjustments as circumstances change.

Get vaccinated: As a secondary school and with the majority of our students, faculty and staff vaccinated, we continue to strongly encourage those of you who have not yet been vaccinated to do so as soon as possible. There is widespread agreement in the scientific and medical community that this is the best way to keep our Spiritan community safe. It is also supported by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and the Papal See.  Use this tool to find a free COVID-19 vaccination site in your area.

Masks: Per the Order of the Acting Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Health Directing Face Coverings in School Entities, masks will be required indoors at all Pennsylvania all public, private, and charter schools and child-care facilities. The order, which is scheduled to take effect on Tuesday, Sept. 7, means several things for Holy Ghost Prep:

  • Each faculty and staff member, student, or visitor to a school must wear a face covering indoors—regardless of vaccination status.
  • No mask required when engaged in an activity that cannot be performed while wearing a mask, such as eating and drinking, or playing an instrument that would be obstructed by the face covering.
  • No mask required when a child/student is participating in a sports practice activity, or event—whether indoors or outdoors.

Transportation: For all HGP provided and non-HGP provided bus transportation, masks are required.

Lunch:  Eating areas will be spread out in 3 locations to mitigate risk while eating/drinking.

Student activities, sports, etc.: For overnight trips (e.g. senior retreats), students must be vaccinated or must provide a negative COVID test within 48 hours of departure. For day trips, specific destinations may have their own COVID-19 policies. Students will have to meet those requirements on a case-by-case basis.

Classes: All classes will be taught in person. Students who are absent will not be provided synchronous online learning. Instead, we will provide teacher support (asynchronously) as we have done pre-pandemic.

Symptoms: For the safety and well-being of our campus, all members of this community who are sick should stay home, contact their medical professional, and promptly seek a diagnostic COVID test. Please be sure to notify Mrs. Ann Bushek at with the results.
