National Honor Society

Our Chapter

Holy Ghost Prep is proud to host the Venerable Francis Libermann Chapter of the National Honor Society of Secondary Schools, an academic honor society rooted in providing a model of character, scholarship, leadership, and service for the entire Holy Ghost Prep community. The chapter was chartered on November 11, 1969.

The National Honor Society is for seniors who meet the eligibility requirements of character, scholarship, leadership, and service.  Eligible students will be invited to apply for membership in the second semester of their junior year. Students who are offered membership are inducted in the spring of their junior year.

Eligibility requirements:

  • Any rising or current senior not already a member of the NHS can apply.

  • Minimum 3.75 cumulative GPA (with no Ds or Fs on your transcript) at the end of first semester junior year (or most recent semester for current seniors).

  • A clean disciplinary record with no suspensions.

  • Participated in several school and community activities during your time at HGP.

NHS members serve the HGP community through peer-to-peer tutoring, helping in the Main Office before the school day, planning the 3 v 3 basketball tournament, and working the concessions stand at all home basketball games. Members also assist at other school events, such as Back To School Night, Open House, and Parent/Teacher Conferences.

The Kevin Montgomery Scholarship

All fundraising proceeds from basketball concession sales and the 3 v 3 tournament go toward the Kevin Montgomery Scholarship, a partial tuition scholarship for rising sophomores. The scholarship is awarded to students who exemplify the qualities of the NHS: leadership, scholarship, service, and character. Scholarship recipients must possess a strong academic record, be an active participant in extracurricular activities, and show a willingness to give generous service to HGP. These students are selected by their teachers.
